This is a framed pointillist landscape painting of Dartmoor in the south west of England, showing the changing light in early summer. Dartmoor is a beautiful national park in the county of Devon where I live and is filled with inspiration for artistic endeavour.
Pointillism was a neo-impressionist movement led by George Seurat. In my contemporary pointillism I paint using small dots or strokes of colour to build up the image
This landscape painting looks across Dartmoor in the south west of England and shows the viewpoint looking from the shadow cast by a cloud towards hills with more cloud shadows on. You can’t paint landscapes in England without painting the weather. Its not all bad though, because as you can see the suns out over there! That’s a beautiful thing for me and has always been one of the themes of my landscapes. The light is beautiful precisely because of the shade.
